Here the nose isn’t quite as elegant as the Griotte as there is plenty of sauvage character but otherwise the red and dark berry fruit

it could even be considered to be underperforming in the context of the vintage

Tightly clutched at the end

this is satisfying and delicious plus it could easily be enjoyed young

red currants and blackberries complementing the fragrant core of cassis

Masi, Mazzano Amarone Valpolicella Classico Vintage:1999 Here the nose isn’t quiteComplex nose, with soft raisins, earth, dried herbs, Indian spices and chocolate. Full bodied, with loads of spicy fruit coating the tannins and a very long, distinctive mineral finish. Powerful, but remains fresh. This is what Amarone is all about. Irresistible now, but will age very well. Fantastic. Best ever from Masi. Drink now. 1,150 cases made. JS
