Description

Being a wine grower

Cercidiphyllum japonicum 'Claim Jumper' is a splendid new gold-leaf selection of the popular Japanese kadsura tree from our friends at Heritage Seedlings

It produces 2' tall light green pitchers that are heavily veined red toward the top and solidly on the hood

The foliage turns golden in fall before going to sleep but returns in spring with clusters of pale blue flowers at the tip of each branch

Strelitzia reginae might be the better known of these two with its banana like leaves and the flower (inflorescence) that often shows up as a florist cutflower

Hymenocallis durangoensis Edimentals Being a wine growerHymenocallis durangoensis is another of the wonderful garden worthy North American native spider lilies, that are sadly, rarely grown. Hymenocallis durangoensis hails from Durango, Mexico, where it forms 2' tall clumps of narrow, very upright, glossy green leaves. The clumps are adorned with spikes of fragrant, white, star shaped flowers that emerge for us around early June. Full to part sun and moist soils are best.
