Epimedium sempervirens Candy Hearts Perennial Plant of the Year so pull back the mulchEpimedium sempervirens 'Candy Hearts' is a 2001 Darrell Probst introduction that forms a 10" tall x 2' wide, semi evergreen clump of dark green foliage that emerges rosy violet in late winter, morphs to green leaves with a violet edge, then finally changes to solid green. The clumps are topped, starting in early April (NC), with terminal clusters of light lavender flowers that just top the emerging foliage quite special in the early spring garden.
